KWCB Youth: Leadership Opportunities for Young Changemakers

Young Leaders. Local Action. Lasting Impact.

KWCB Youth gives young people in Wakulla County a voice, a seat at the table, and opportunities to make a real difference in the community they call home.

Created as an extension of Keep Wakulla County Beautiful, KWCB Youth brings together young people who care about litter prevention, waste reduction, beautification, conservation, and the future of Wakulla County.

This isn’t just about picking up litter. It’s about leadership, service, ideas, and action.

Built by Youth, for Youth

KWCB has wanted to establish a youth leadership program for several years. Plans began taking shape in 2019/2020, but the pandemic put the effort on hold.

The idea never went away.

With the addition of our first youth member to the KWCB Board of Directors, the vision gained new momentum. After serving on the KWCB Board and seeing firsthand the impact that community involvement can have, our youth representative helped bring the idea back to life.

Today, KWCB Youth is being built with young people at the table from the very beginning.

Our founding youth leaders are helping develop the organization’s bylaws, structure, priorities, projects, and plans for the future.

Your Community. Your Ideas.

KWCB Youth members won’t simply be asked to participate in projects adults have already planned. We want young people to help decide what matters and what we do about it.

Members will have opportunities to:

  • Develop and lead environmental service projects
  • Organize litter cleanups and beautification efforts
  • Promote recycling and waste reduction
  • Protect Wakulla County’s natural resources
  • Develop campaigns for schools and the community
  • Participate in KWCB programs and special events
  • Learn how nonprofit organizations and boards operate
  • Build leadership, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Earn community service hours through eligible activities
  • Connect with local leaders, organizations, and businesses
  • Bring new ideas to KWCB
  • Inspire other young people to get involved

The Founders Table

Every organization starts somewhere.

KWCB Youth begins with the Founders Table– a group of young people willing to help shape what this organization will become.

Founding participants have the unique opportunity to help establish the Youth Board’s traditions, priorities, projects, leadership structure, and identity.

You don’t need to be an environmental expert. You don’t need previous leadership experience.

You just need to care about your community and be willing to show up with ideas.

Who Can Get Involved?

KWCB Youth is being created for young people in Wakulla County who want to serve their community, develop leadership skills, and make a difference.

Whether you’re interested in the environment, community service, leadership, volunteering, wildlife, art, recycling, public speaking, event planning, social media—or you simply want to make Wakulla County an even better place to live—there can be a place for you here.

Why Join?

Because young people shouldn’t have to wait until they’re adults to have an impact.

KWCB Youth is an opportunity to gain real-world leadership experience while doing meaningful work right here at home.

You’ll meet new people, develop new skills, build your résumé, earn service experience, and most importantly, see the results of projects that you helped create.

Help Us Build What’s Next

KWCB Youth is just getting started, which means this is your chance to help shape it.

Bring your ideas.

Bring your creativity.

Bring your friends.

We’ll bring the gloves.
